Delivering stems: a clean handoff for online mixing

Our Stem mixing begins on your drive, not on the faders. Consistent names, aligned song starts and clear references mean we spend the included 2 revision rounds on sound, not on hunting files.

Engineer sorts drive and folders for stems.

What the mix service includes

Per track we mix from your stems or session exports with reference listening and two feedback rounds as described on the service page. Guide price: €195 per song, EP up to six tracks €680, album up to twelve €1,250 — all incl. 20% VAT.

Not included: rebuilding entire arrangements, heavy vocal tuning, release mastering (see Mastering) or inventing missing parts. Unclear briefs we clarify via contact; we aim to reply within 2 business days.

Minimum technical specs

Prefer WAV or AIFF, 24-bit, 48 kHz — identical on every stem. All files start at the same point: sample 0 or bar 1 with click, consistent in the project. No MP3 stems unless you also supply lossless archives.

Levels: peaks roughly between −18 and −6 dBFS on individual tracks; do not export with a limited master bus. Avoid brickwalled prints on every stem — headroom helps EQ and dynamics. From Logic, Ableton or Reaper, disable real-time plugins on stems or document what is committed.

Naming and folder layout

A schema that works well: Artist_Title_BPM_Key/Stems/ with 01_Drum_Kick.wav, 02_Drum_Snare.wav, 10_Bass_DI.wav, 11_Bass_Amp.wav, 20_Guitar_Rhythm_L.wav, etc. Vocals: 30_Vox_Lead.wav, 31_Vox_Double.wav.

Add README.txt with tempo, key, desired length, reference links and notes (e.g. «fade intro», «break at 1:42»). Avoid characters in filenames that break ZIP or macOS paths — replace umlauts if needed.

Extra material we need

  • Stereo instrumental or rough mix WAV if available
  • Two or three reference tracks (streaming links OK) with a note on what you like
  • Stem list including multiple guitar takes
  • Billing address and VAT ID for Austrian companies

Vocals recorded at Vocals & singing in-house stay on our servers — tell us which takes to use. External vocals follow the naming rules above.

Upload and privacy

Send via encrypted download link (WeTransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive) to [email protected]. Share passwords separately. Large EPs can arrive on SSD by post — address on contact and legal notice.

Avoid personal data in filenames or notes; processing is covered by our privacy policy and optional data processing agreement for agencies. We keep project material 24 months unless extended.

Workflow after delivery

We check completeness: missing stem, wrong sample rate or offset start triggers questions before mixing. First mix draft follows the timeline in your quote. Listen on your headphones or monitors; send bundled notes with timecodes.

2 rounds cover level, balance, EQ, panning and basic effects — not re-recording. Extra rounds or stem exports from our session are quoted separately. Delivery: stem print or stereo mix as 24-bit WAV plus optional MP3 preview.

Common issues from Vienna home setups

High ceilings and parquet floors add room to overheads; send dry drum stems and a room mic if you have one. DI bass plus amp helps fixes. Heavily roomy guitars can only be tightened so much — better re-track in our Band in the live room than rescue in mix.

Legacy 44.1 kHz projects: convert all stems to one rate, do not mix rates. A click stem helps edits and can stay muted in the mix.
